Becoming an artist

This installation is presented at the National Museum of Norway (Nasjonalmuseet).
Learning art in European academies: At the dawn of the 19th century, becoming an artist in dawning Norway was almost impossible at a time when there were few educational opportunities. To improve their skills and learn from the masters, many budding Norwegian artists went to art academies across Europe. Paris, Rome, Stockholm, Copenhagen: the public is invited to discover the work of these artists through an interactive map.
